Once you have your CAC reader, plug it into your Mac and ensure your computer recognizes it. If you have one of the CAC readers we suggested above, then you should be good to go. If you are testing a different version, then verify that your Mac accepts your CAC reader by following these steps. SCM's SCR3310 and SCR3310v2.0 are small and ergonomic USB smart card readers, with backside mounting holes. The readers are ISO 7816 compliant, and can be used for cards in ID 1 card format.

The following instructions will show you step by step on how to install your CAC Reader Software on your personal computer. If you are going to purchase a CAC reader, and have a Mac, we recommend the SCR-3310 v2 (above), or SCR-3500 (below). I can confirm that a USB Activcard CAC/smartcard reader will work as I just set one up 3 days ago on my MacBook at work for DoD use. If it'll work with the MB, it will work with a MP. BTW, i did need a windows box to update the firmware on the card reader, but it was very simple. How can the answer be improved?
Cac Reader For A Mac
SCR331 and SCR531 users note that only readers that have CCID firmware are supported. Readers that have firmware Rev 2.0 and above are CCID. This driver may also be used with the following third party products: Goldtouch ErgoSecure SC 2.0 keyboard, Datakey DKR830. If the host is running Windows 98 SE or Windows Me, ensure that Microsoft Smart Card Base Components are installed on the host before atempting to install the drivers.
